Q: Where did you meet her/him for the first time? Any moments you strongly recall?
A: I met K in Lounge in Shinagawa, Tokyo. We had the best seat by the
window overlooking the garden. My first impression of her was that she was very calm and easygoing. It was very surprising how we had so many things in common (lived in the same countries in the past and enjoy the same food). I immediately knew we’d get along well. We were so engrossed in our conversation that we lost track of time and talked for 2.5 hours.
Q: Anything changed between you after you decided to get exclusive/engaged?
A: We decided to live together after getting engaged. Not much changed apart from that.
Q: What made you decide to be exclusive/engaged to her?
A: A combination of many things such as enjoying spending time together, same vision for the future, same values, and strong teamwork.
Q: Please share the story of the day you proposed.
A: I prepared a speech for K’s father to ask for his permission to marry her. My Japanese is not good, and I couldn’t memorize the speech, so I had to read it from my notes. I went to K’s fathers house and read the speech to him there. He responded positively and wanted me to give him the speech notes, so I gave it to him.
One of my close friend’s is a professional photographer, so I arranged for him to do a photoshoot for K and me later that day. We went to Odaiba beach at sunset, and it was the perfect setting. Near the end of the photoshoot, I got down on one knee and proposed with a diamond ring. Karen was very surprised but immediately said yes.
Q: How your impression and/or feelings changed before / after joining the PMG?
A: The big change was being open to the concept of arranged marriages and understanding the advantages that it has. I’m very happy that I went that route.
Q: Were you nervous on your first Omiai day?
A: I was not nervous. K was very easy to talk to.
Q: What keywords would you use to find or/and to select a matchmaking agency?

A: Trust your gut. In my experience, you’ll immediately click when you meet the right person. If you have a unique and unusual cultural background like me, it can be hard to find the right match even after meeting several people. Don’t give and keep going.
Q: Looking back on your experience of the whole process with us, what do you think is the most important part of your activities for the successful result?
A: The most important thing was learning the concept and advantages of arranged marriages.
